At the end of last year, the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, inaugurated an important institution called “Quality Village.” This facility includes two state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest HBK calibration technology for:
- calibration of acoustic transducers and sound measurement devices,
- calibration of accelerometers and vibration measurement equipment.
For the team managing the acoustics and vibrations laboratory, the new equipment marks a transformative leap in mindset, operations, and responsibilities. Considerable time was dedicated to training the team—both theoretically and practically—ensuring efficient use of the measurement equipment and adherence to the highest quality standards.
Strategic Importance for Ethiopia
“Quality Village” is not just a new institution but a pivotal step in raising quality standards across Ethiopia. This achievement’s significance was underscored by the President of Ethiopia’s visit, where he expressed support and emphasized the critical role of certified and accredited laboratories in driving economic progress. The new equipment and infrastructure represent a major upgrade, improving Ethiopia’s competitiveness in the international market, fostering innovation, and attracting investments.
